Date: 16th of January, 2017 - Addis Ababa

The staff of the Addis Ababa City Administration visited the Enotofo Friendship PICOCC Rivers and Riverbank Development projects, alongside other related construction works, to learn and observe the implementation of large-scale development projects that contribute to the city's growth. This initiative aimed to provide insights into the processes and best practices of urban development.

During the visit, the key Project Office manager, Engineer Zelake Wakene, emphasized the importance of these visits in enhancing the overall understanding of project execution among staff members. He pointed out that every project staff member plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the projects and should be able to feel a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the execution of these projects. The visit helped facilitate the exchange of knowledge and fostered a deeper commitment to achieving the desired outcomes of the projects.

The project manager further explained that each staff member contributes significantly to the success of the projects. He highlighted that the visit was particularly beneficial in strengthening the team's sense of responsibility and commitment to their work, which directly impacts project success. This approach enables staff to be more engaged in their tasks and recognize the impact of their roles on the project's overall performance.

The 21-kilometer Enotofo Friendship PICOCC Rivers and Riverbank Development project incorporates various elements such as viewing platforms, water reservoirs, bridges, pedestrian and bicycle pathways, riverbank protection measures, cable cars, and parking facilities. These features were highlighted in different phases of the project, demonstrating the collaborative effort involved at each level of construction.

This construction project is divided into six phases and is considered one of the critical ongoing projects among the major urban development initiatives managed by the city administration. It represents a vital part of the city's expansion and modernization efforts, contributing to the overall improvement of infrastructure and public amenities.
