Addis Ababa, February 5, 2025 (Tir 27, 2017 E.C.)

A six-month performance evaluation forum was held in Addis Ababa by the Mega Projects Construction Office in collaboration with the city's foundational development institutions. The session focused on the joint activities carried out since the beginning of the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year, within the framework of the preparation phase.

The evaluation platform provided a comprehensive review of the progress made on foundational development projects. Key stakeholders presented insights on successes as well as challenges, particularly regarding coordination and implementation gaps observed in certain projects. The report was presented by Mr. Hailemichael Shewaye, a representative of the Change Management Directorate at the Mega Projects Construction Office.

Participants included representatives from several city administration institutions such as the Planning and Development Bureau, Construction Permit Office, Trade Bureau, Land Development Administration, Public-Private Partnership Office, and the Mayor’s Office’s Structural Supervision Directorate. They shared valuable feedback and recommendations to improve future collaborative efforts.

Mr. Kassahun Alemu, Deputy Director for Business Development at the Mega Projects Construction Office, emphasized the importance of continued coordination among institutions. He noted that the collaborative efforts so far have led to impactful results and that the constructive feedback provided during the forum would be integrated into ongoing and future project planning and execution.

He also extended gratitude to institutions and leaders who have demonstrated strong commitment and support for foundational development efforts. However, he pointed out that some key institutions had not participated in the forum and stressed the importance of their future involvement to avoid hindering collective progress.

Dr. Meles Aleka, Deputy Director for Engineering, also underscored the significance of incorporating the technical insights shared during the forum and reaffirmed the office’s dedication to inclusive and effective project execution in collaboration with all stakeholders.
