The Power of Gratitude in the Workplace November 18, 2024 | Addis Ababa
On Monday, November 18, 2024, the inaugural session of the Monday Morning Knowledge Sharing series was officially launched by the General Manager of the Mega Projects Construction Office, Engineer Zeleke Wakene. His inspirational talk set the tone for the entire knowledge-sharing initiative.
In his presentation, Engineer Zeleke focused on "The Power of Gratitude in the Workplace." He emphasized that being thankful is not just a moral virtue but a powerful motivator that can significantly impact how individuals perform and collaborate at work. He explained that practicing gratitude helps shift attention away from daily frustrations and toward appreciation of progress, relationships, and shared purpose.
Engineer Zeleke also highlighted that expressing thankfulness attracts positive energy, encourages resilience, and strengthens workplace bonds. "When we start our day with a grateful heart," he noted, "we are more likely to see opportunities instead of obstacles, and solutions instead of setbacks."
He concluded by encouraging every staff member to consciously practice gratitude — toward their responsibilities, their colleagues, and the organization — as a means of building a supportive, high-performing, and purpose-driven work environment.
