Living with Purpose: Embracing Mortality and Supporting Each Other January 20, 2017 | Addis Ababa
On January 20, 2017, Ato Yosef Meshesha, the Director of the Finance Directorate, presented an impactful and thought-provoking session during the Monday Knowledge Sharing. The session focused on the theme, "Embracing Life with Purpose and Care: The Power of Supporting One Another in the Face of Mortality."
In his powerful presentation, Ato Yosef emphasized that the inevitability of death should serve as a reminder to live each day with purpose and intentionality. He spoke candidly about how this awareness should inspire us to support and care for each other, both in our personal lives and within our professional environments. Ato Yosef shared that the awareness of mortality challenges individuals to live more meaningfully and to prioritize connections, empathy, and collective responsibility.
Ato Yosef also highlighted that by recognizing that everyone is, in essence, waiting for their inevitable end, we should use this knowledge to foster a culture of cooperation and mutual support at work. He underscored that when we live with the awareness of death, our relationships and efforts are more likely to be authentic, and our contributions to our work more meaningful.
In closing, Ato Yosef encouraged all present to take daily actions with purpose, to support one another unconditionally, and to embrace life fully with a mindful approach to time and relationships. He emphasized that this kind of mindset helps individuals grow both personally and professionally, creating a positive and supportive work environment for everyone.
